Harvest Service, Sunday 4th October, 11am

We may be restricted in how we celebrate – but celebrate we will! Our Harvest Thanksgiving Service takes place on Sunday 4th October and will have many of the usual ‘ingredients’: Gina and her team will be decorating the church (albeit in a reduced way); Neil will play Harvest hymns on the organ; the choir (socially distanced and following all CofE and RSCM regulations) will sing an anthem; we will be collecting non-perishable goods for the IW Foodbank. We look forward to seeing you there – socially distanced and with face coverings of course!

Harvest Gifts for the Foodbank

The IW Foodbank has been extremely busy during the pandemic and need is expected to increase as more jobs are cut during the Autumn and Winter. Please bring along gifts of money or non-perishable goods to support islanders in need. Items most needed at present are listed here

There will be an opportunity during the service to bring your gifts to the harvest table so please keep them with you in your pew until that point.

Services in October

Please assume that there will be a service in Christ Church each Sunday at 11am unless you are told otherwise. In a change to our usual pattern, Leisa will lead our service of Holy Communion on the 4th Sunday this month (October 25th) with the others being lay led.

Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM)

Our APCM, delayed due to the pandemic, will take place directly after our morning service on Sunday 25th October. Sorry – no church lunch this year ☹ Vacancies exist for Sidesman and PCC members. If you are interested and would like to know more, please speak to Peter or Geoff who will be delighted to fill you in.

FYT Churches Autumn Magazine

Publication of the next edition has been delayed until decisions have been made re the West Wight Remembrance Parade and subsequent arrangements in our churches. The delay has the added benefit of allowing us to include pictures and reports of the Harvest Services in our churches. Please feel free to send us any further items.
